Tanning for your wedding

Tanning for your wedding

Not a good idea. I don't know why but so many brides think they will photograph better if they tan for their wedding day/photoshoot.

Not true.

Depending on your skin type the camera will pick up an orangey-pinky-reddish cast of your skin, not mentioning that it will also look very dull.

Let me tell you, I was recently having a photo session for two beautiful girls. And you know, both of them were tanned (dang!) They looked beautiful in reality, but the pictures… On the same photo, both of them had different skin colors. One was a little too red( she wasn’t burnt or anything) and the other one looked orange. So how do I correct it? If I try to correct the skin color of the one of them, then the color of the other girl shifts and she looks even worse than before. Everything else in the picture also changes its toning once I start correcting their skin color.

I wish I could show you a picture ... But you can revisit your archives from wonderful holidays you had in Maui, or Jamaica and look at the photos you took there while beautifully tanned.. Do you see what I mean? And you were not burnt! You looked gorgeous, but somehow the camera only picked up a flat, reddish cast of your face and everything else is over contrasty comparing with the rest of the image.. You were blaming your point and shoot camera for the poor quality, and were not realizing that the images looked that way because of the tan.

Also if you were tanning in your bathing suit – you may have tan lines. Sometimes you cant even see them, but the camera does, and needless to say that this will not look attractive either.

Well, my job is to tell you this. Then that is your choice. Just keep in mind that every photographer will sign under” not tanning for a photoshoot” statement. ;)
